A few words about Michael Clay, Artisan
“I can do that!”
And so began his quest in 1992 to become a self-taught artisan in
creating items in the rustic tradition. He didn’t have the training but
had the eye. Items like bookcases, mirrors, frames and more were
rustically created and expressed with twigs/limbs, the bark from trees and antlers that are seasonally shed by animals such as elk and deer.
In all, he was passionately inspired by nature with regular travel to northern Michigan along with constant visits to museums, antique shows and be-friending several good carpenters and rustic artisans along the way. His creations blend extraordinarily well into rustic and contemporary settings.
